Q: How do you factor the Old Man’s life or health before using his “He is Legion” power?
A: The Health or Life points of The Old Man are always the average of the remaining health of the party (not starting health) plus 20%. This is to ensure that combat encounters are scaled rather than becoming increasingly hopeless. This is calculated by adding the party’s remaining health and dividing by the number of party members. This number is then multiplied by 20%, which is added to the total. For example, a party of 5 characters with health scores of 12, 14, 18, 23, 45 totals 112. This is then divided by 5 for a total of 22.4 (round up to 23). This is then multiplied by 20%, which totals 4.6 (round to 5). The Old Man’s health points for this encounter would be 23+5=28.
